Wholeness: What Every Human Being Seeks

Wholeness: What Every Human Being Seeks by Randolph Jason for The Recovered Word

When our hearts become “activated” by something completely outside of our life our lives have the potential to change. When we begin to seek, discuss or pursue something completely out of the ordinary from who we have been, because the truth has just been revealed, our lives can be transformed.

This is not some kind of “woodoo” or some other nonsense. Most of us are comfortable living the life dictated by society. As a result, most people completely ignore the beauty of stepping into the unknown.

It takes no real faith to believe a lie. If someone says you’re no good at math, there’s plenty of facts to back that up. You don’t have to think about it. But to understand the truth of who you are takes faith because you can’t see all of it yet, but it’s in there. ~ Jamie Winship

It is a real challenge to walk by faith and to step into something previously untried. Family, friends and society begin immediately attacking the decision. When this happens, more often than not, people look away from the truth and continue pursuing the false.

“Well, I’m American.” “I work for “X” company.” “I’m the parent of this child.” All of these statements are true, however, they are not any one person’s true identity. They are nothing more than a series of task, locations or for whom we work. Who are you? What are you suppose to know? What are you suppose to be doing? How do we serve others?

If we aren’t serving others we are serving ourselves. What happens next is we become the center of the universe.

Listening For The Change

How do we know what we are suppose to know? Well, I’m glad you ask. If we never ask this very simple question how will we ever crossover and change our life?

We have many examples throughout all of history where people demonstrate this action. How it comes about is usually very close to or at the point of transformation in ones life. What could happen is we find ourselves riding down the road and suddenly everything changes. It could be we are watching a movie and one of the characters begins telling our story. We must have ears to hear and eyes to see.

One of the greatest examples is a story of a man who ask the question, “What would You have me to do?”.

And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. ~ Acts 9:6 KJB

Should we expect to be given a “game plan” answer to a question? Something like…if you do this, then you will change in this way. Maybe if this person comes into your life something will happen.

What Typically Happens

Most of us are so wrapped up in our life we miss the small voices trying to speak to us. As the noise of the day drowns out the beauty that surrounds us to such a point we can’t see nor hear.

The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation. From the desperate city you go into the desperate country, and have to console yourself with the bravery of minks and muskrats. A stereotyped but unconscious despair is concealed even under what are called the games and amusements of mankind. There is no play in them, for this comes after work. But it is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things.. ~ Henry David Thoreau

When a person lives there intended life there is no desperation. When desperation is removed life becomes the focus. The task we are completing are not work, they are joyous. Our home life changes. Families grow together. Love becomes the center of everything. Service to others becomes the driving force. Communities thrive.

Sounds really idealistic. It’s not. What makes a person unwilling to see the truth is their own pain. The life that has been lived for so many years is all that can be seen. It is not all that exist. Either we are living or we are dying, we are not standing still. The choice is ours to make.
